Friday June 24, 2016 – Travel Day
This map shows the main Villages around the Lakes.
This is what we are going to explore for the next 2 weeks. If you look at a map of New York State, this is kind of west in the middle. Everyone told us that this is a beautiful place and they were not kidding. We will do a series of post on the different places we went while we are here.
First, let me fill you in where we left off. We left Hamburg and headed to Orchard Park, outside of Buffalo. We went to Colton RV to get our slide topper repaired. We can not say enough about Colton RV. Everyone there was very nice and professional. I wish they were in Florida, in case we ever need them again. They fixed our slide topper, checked our inverter and dumped our tanks. What more could you ask for. A special thank you to Stacy for treating us so nice.
This is the Finger Lakes Moose Lodge 823 in Waterloo, NY. They have 110 power, water and sewer. Wonderful. Thank goodness the weather was very mild, because we could not use the air conditioners because of lack of power. There were a few hot days, but we have been able to manage.
Nice a level.
Very wide site. There are others campers to the left that stay here seasonally. We are the only transients here right now. They have 2 spots. We got all set up and headed to Moose to introduce ourselves. It was suggested that we go to Connie’s Diner for Dinner.
It is owned by Italians, so there is a lot of Italian dishes on the menu, plus your usual fare. Nice and clean and very friendly wait staff.
Saturday June 25, 2016 – Seneca LakeWe are staying in Waterloo. We decided to check out Seneca Lake today. We headed to Geneva and went south to Penn Yan. There is a large flea market at The Windmill Farm & Craft Market near Penn Yan.
It was very nice, but only open on Saturdays, so we had to go.
Penn Yan United Methodist Church.
The houses have so much character in the area.
On to Watkins Glen. Beautiful town and waterfront.
Boats everywhere.
Lake Tour Cruises.
Since 1934.
The water is so blue and sail boats everywhere. Beautiful!
Looking north towards Geneva.
The drive back north.
The Farms are beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice with the wheat and the corn. The colors are so fantastic.
Big farms too.
We drove through Waterloo, The Birthplace of Memorial Day.The first Memorial Day was held in Waterloo, NY.
National Memorial Day Museum.
We got back to the Moose in time for a wedding.
Tomorrow we are heading to Seneca Falls and Cayuga Lake.
What beautiful places. Can’t wait to see more post…
